Gospel-Centered Worship

Worship is a joyful and continual response to what God has given us, particularly, in Jesus Christ.  We were created to be worshipers.  In other words, our hearts are naturally inclined to treasure something.   We believe that our souls are only satisfied as we treasure and exalt the perfect, beautiful and holy God, who is knowable only through the person and work of his Son. Thus, we want our corporate worship gatherings to highlight and accentuate the work of Jesus (i.e., the gospel) in a way that fuels our daily worship and discipleship.

Gospel-Centered Community

Community is the context for discipleship. The Christian faith is not intended to be lived in isolation; we were made for relationship with God and for relationship with each other. We belong not merely to a local church, but to a people.  Compelled by the love of Christ, and saved into a family of faith, we want to see people from diverse nationalities, ethnicities, generations and backgrounds find a place to belong.

Gospel-Centered Mission

To be a Christ-follower is to be on mission. God himself became a missionary in Jesus Christ, entering our world and dwelling among us. Likewise, the local church and its members have a responsibility to embrace a missional lifestyle; going as ambassadors of Christ, declaring and demonstrating the beauty of Jesus in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. We have a vision to see North Alabama transformed by the power of the gospel. This happens not as we all quit our jobs and become vocational ministers, but rather as we each faithfully approach our normal, everyday lives with prayerful, gospel intentionality.

Gospel-Centered Service

The gospel informs how we serve one another. We believe that the overflow of a disciple's life is one of service. Furthermore, we believe that serving is at the very heart of the gospel. We know this, because Christ himself did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. Our desire is to see every member at Capshaw engaged in ministry.
