About Us

About Us

At Capshaw we’re a church that is learning to rest in Jesus. We haven’t arrived but we are striving to depend more on his power and his grace, and less on our own strength. Though we are broken people, the good news is that Jesus came to rescue us from our brokenness and bring us into true life with God. This good news (or “gospel”) isn’t just for someday in the future; it completely transforms our everyday life here and now. All of life is richer as we increasingly see and rest in the power of the gospel.

As God’s people, we exist to honor and enjoy this God who redeemed us through the work of his Son. This means we seek to help non-Christians experience the power of the gospel for the first time, while we also help one another experience the power of the gospel more and more in the everyday things of life. Everything we do as a church is ultimately about making disciples of Jesus who make other disciples for the glory of God and joy of all peoples.

“We will never achieve excellent public worship by pursuing excellent public worship but by pursuing God Himself. Worship is ultimately a joyful and continued response to God's redemptive provision through Christ.”
— John Sloan, Senior Pastor

Why We Exist

We exist to treasure Jesus, become like him together and share his gospel.

"The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy....."
